Resume:
Dr Sameh Mohamed Fakhry is a Professor of Gastroenterology, Hepatology and Endoscopy in Theodor Bilharz Research Institute (TBRI) in Cairo, Egypt. TBRI has a 350 beds hospital and 52 specialized laboratories with different clinical departments.
He is also part time professor and Director of Gastrointestinal Endoscopy Unit in the Department of Internal Medicine, Faculty of Medicine, Misr University for Science and Technology (MUST), Cairo, Egypt. He is visiting professor to King’s College Hospital London Dubai, Dubai, UAE since 2019.
He finished his Bachelor, Master and PhD degrees from the Faculty of Medicine, Cairo University. He received advanced fellowship training in the field of Gastroenterology, Hepatology and Endoscopy in USA in the University of Southern California, Los Angeles; Duke University, North Carolina; Cleveland Clinic, Cleveland, Ohio. He finished his training in 1995.
He was appointed as Assistant professor in 1995 then Associate Professor in 2000 and Professor in 2005. He is Fellow of the American Society of Gastrointestinal Endoscopy (FASGE) and international member in the American Association for the Study of Liver Diseases (AASLD) and American College of Gastroenterology (ACG). He finished recently, May 2017 a master’s degree in management in Health (International Master’s in healthcare leadership, IMHL) from McGill University, Montreal, Canada.
During his medical carrier he was involved in patient care, performing diagnostic and therapeutic GI procedures including ERCP, Clinical teaching to both undergraduates and postgraduates, training GI endoscopic procedures, Principal investigator and member in many research projects.
He supervised many master and Ph. D thesis and has more than 50 scientific publications in peer reviewed journals and gave more than 150 presentations in International Conferences in the field of Gastroenterology, Hepatology and Endoscopy. He has extensive experience in managing Gastrointestinal and Liver diseases as well different endoscopic procedures including biliary procedures and endoscopic procedures for weight loss.
